Problems with winter storage

We have owned a sail boat for a long time. Each winter you have to empty out all the stuff from your boat and store it somewhere. The most convenient place to store things for us was our basement. Most people who live in the suburbs probably store stuff in their garages. If you live in an urban area, storing your things is difficult. So after many years of bringing all the stuff back to our basement, we needed a new strategy.

We started to do research on storage units in the area. There turned out to be a storage unit for rent not too far down the road. I’m thinking this is the case all over now and that storage units are really easy to locate. They seem to have been built all over the place. I guess that the companies in this business have decided that this is a growth market. Regardless, I was talking about my boat stuff. Moving storage
In the end we decided to rent a storage unit that was not too far from the boat. We moved all the stuff from the boat to the storage unit in the car. This took many many trips. What I found was that because we were so close, I actually took more things off the boat and into storage. And actually, that’s very good for the stuff you are storing. The big issue here is mold. Inside the storage unit, climate control made sure that there was no moisture. This kept our stuff from being stinky or moldy.
